As well as being a teacher I have done many things to make a living. I enjoy many kinds of work and have found it very fulfilling to explore different occupations. Here are a few:
User's Guide - A computer consulting and tutoring business that I ran for over ten years and has evolved into....
Websites for the People - A website design and social media consulting concern focusing on simple solutions for individuals and small businesses.
Retail and Restaurant work - I have opened, managed and worked in numerous bars and restaurants in New York City including as General Manager, Floor Manager, Bartender and Waiter. On a related note I've spent the last few years becoming a pretty decent baker and I have been pretty serious about cooking all of my life.
Farm and Ranch work - I worked on a family farm for a year where I learnt fence mending and building, animal husbandry and honed my construction skills. I also have extensive gardening experience.
Teaching - I taught Science, Philosophy, and Religion at Hunter college for over fifteen years. In addition I teach small homeschool classes on topics including: Ancient Greek Philosophy, Political Science, Books of the Sixties, Life Skills, Finance and Relationships.
Therapy and Counseling - Since graduating from NYU I have continued to expand and refine my therapy practice and counseling skills. 5 years ago I fully committed to Walking therapy as an outgrowth of my own distaste for sitting and extensive research on mind/body connection. My work as an Authenticity Coach draws from all walks of life and I as a teacher I have been lucky to have had the opportunity to counsel hundreds of young people as they work their way through college and consider adulthood. I have also been an Equine Therapist working in residential treatment and currently have sessions available with my horse, Olive.
